Frequently Asked Questions
You have questions and we have answers!
Can parents/guardians run with their child?
Parents or guardians of runners 8 and under may run with their child in the George Dashington or Caboose Run. We prefer runners complete the event on their own but understand some runners need a bit of reassurance. No parents may run with participants in the Express. You must indicate during registration that you will be running and sign the waiver. The runner’s bib will be marked to indicate they are running with an adult. The parent/guardian must run with the child throughout the whole course and may not enter or exit the course. Only 1 parent or guardian may run with a child. Please do not pull or carry your runner to the finish.
If your runner has special needs please contact us and we can discuss accommodations: gtr@runfarc.com
Can siblings run together?
Runners must run in their assigned Heat or risk not receiving a time and being disqualified from awards. Our first priority is the safety of the runners and having runners stay within their appropriate Heat helps to keep runners of similar size and ability together.
Can friends run together?
If they are close in age they may be in the same Heat, but no special accommodations will be made to ensure this. With the number of runners participating in the event it becomes very difficult to satisfy the amount of special requests.
What if I become separated from my runner?
If your runner is lost, please notify a volunteer or staff member. We have procedures in place for locating lost children. We will also have a designated table in the finish area for lost children where a volunteer will help link the runner back up with their parent/guardian.
Where are the bathrooms on race day?
There will be porta-potties at the VRE lot and at the finish line. Additionally the Visitors Center has public bathrooms that will be open early at 7am on race day.
Will there be an awards ceremony?
Yes! Check the race day schedule as we get closer to the event for the award times.
Can I pickup my shirt and bib on race day?
No, all race packets must be picked-up Friday or Saturday before the race. Refer to the information page for the details on packet pickup. Please ensure you make plans to get your runner’s packets as we don’t want anyone to miss out. You may have a friend pick-up your packet if they have a Proxy Form. Refer to the information page for the Proxy Form.
